To get the best from your holiday you need to know what the local area offers so, let's start with the beaches:

This is about ten minutes drive from the villa and, although rather on the small side, is a pleasant spot to have a drink and watch the sun set.
About 20minutes north of the villa you will see the signs for Pine Island Beach. This beach is relaxing, usually quiet with warm shallow water! Good area for fishing.

An island park so take a picnic! Good for fishing, swimming, picnics or just a relaxing afternoon.

A favourite with our children; there is a play area, barbeque and a mile long causeway that leads to an island beach. Dolphins are often seen close to the shore. Can be combined with a trip to Tarpon Springs.

Possibly the best known of the beaches on the Gulf Coast and one of the few that does get a little crowded in the high season. However, well worth a visit as there is always something going on. Whilst Clearwater Beach features a covered playground, Pier 60 has a Sunset Festival which features music, entertainment and, of course, the Gulf Coast sunset.

This is a state park and admission is $5.00 per car. Here you can walk for two miles along the beach watching dolphins and pelicans. Seldom crowded. Apart from the beach there are two nature trails with a chance to see osprey. Nice place to watch the sunset. Boats leave from here to Caladesi Island which was recently rated as the fifth finest beach in the United States.
At just over an hours drive from the villa, this is the most Southerly beach on Florida's "Gold Coast", and is rated as the ninth best beach in the United States. It is about seven miles long with some souvenir and refreshment shops. If you tire of the beach, there is always the historic fort (built during the America-Spanish War) to explore. The east beach gives a good view of the spectacular Sunshine Bridge which links St Petersburg with Sarasota.
